I was talking to my husband today and repeated something I’ve caught myself saying a few times recently. I was playing the “numbers game” we all play. You know how it goes; “If I lose X pounds per week, by X date, I could be at X pounds!” Using HCG makes my future weight loss a little bit more predictable, to a point. So I know that if I average a loss of 0.6 pounds per day and I do a second round right after this first one is over, I could be in the 180s by October. As soon as I said that, the next thing out of my mouth was, “Holy shizballs, I can’t believe that!”
As soon as I said it, I realized I needed to brush up on my visualization skills and practice. You see, when I first started the HCG, I was at 252.5. And I told myself that I was losing weight, yeah, but I wouldn’t really believe this might work until I got into the 230s. And then I did, and I felt like this was all so surreal! So I started using visualization before bed each night to help me SEE and CLAIM and BELIEVE that the weight loss I am experiencing is real and true. And to start seeing myself losing more weight and achieving future goals.
It worked; I went from not being able to believe I was doing this to feeling happy and excited and eager to know what each new day (and weigh in) would bring. And being the dummy that I sometimes am, I thought that was it, so I quit doing it. And now here I am, saying the same things to myself about my future goals as I did about the goals I’ve already accomplished. So, back to the drawing board visualization I go.
My husband and I are talking and dreaming about building a house. Today I said to him that I love dreaming and brainstorming and talking about it, but that if we really want it to happen, we need to have a plan. It’s not a perfect metaphor, but I think visualizing myself at my goal needs to be a big part of my plan for reaching my goal – attaining a healthy weight where my body feels strong and fit and where I know I can conquer any task I set before myself.
Have you used visualization to help you achieve your goals? Do you have a picture in your mind of what you will look like when you reach your weight goal? Can you see yourself crossing the finish line of that marathon you dream about running? Do you know what kinds of foods you will eat and how your active, healthy, strong body will feel once you attain your physical goals?
