That first run back after a lapse for any reason is SO hard. I ran while I was down in LA and it was really difficult but also really gratifying. I'm trying as hard as I can to talk myself back to the gym here in Seattle too.

Congrats! I was happy to see you didn't list something that has been fairly common to my friends who have come back to running post-people-making -- issues with their pelvic floor. I'd say it's happened to 3 of the 5 people who come to mind. And that has really made it uncomfortable. Very, very glad you won't have that problem! But, yeah, I've heard about some of those other issues too, but your muscles will love coming back to it! Woo-hoo for you!

So awesome Val! Congrats on your first run of many to come: they will feel easier each time after. Sounds like it was a good one in perfect running weather. (Tara is jealous of that part...) xo

such similar paths and we live so close - we should meet sometime (in a much less creepy way than that sounds...)
I think I was going to come running with you and a friend one time and I can't remember what happened...but I didn't make it (or it got cancelled?) I can't remember anymore!

Good luck with the changes - it always seems like it'll be so simple to make the changes but babies complicate things more so than anyone can explain...and then there's Mommy Guilt...if that burned calories I'd be stick thin!

Sounds like you are being really smart. The way I ended up losing my baby weight was very similar but the real key for me was in having a race goal. I ran a marathon when I was 5 weeks pregnant (didn't realize I was pregnant yet) so I knew that I wanted to get right back to marathons. I scheduled one for 8 months after my baby was born and ended up running two that within that time period. Being fit and healthy is key for you but also for your baby. Keep taking care of yourself and you will both be happy.

Julia, THANKS for the paleohacks website - I just checked and there is a TON of info on there about breastfeeding! I can't wait to read through more of it. I added your blog to my reader & look forward to reading. Thank you again!
